What to Bring
Paperwork
-
Complete your ACA Adult or Minor membership form/waiver before you come and bring it with you (each person must complete their own form). For instructions on filling in out, see the FAQs.
Clothing/Supplies
-
Check the weather before you come and dress appropriately. Wear clothing that will dry quickly. No cotton!
-
Bring a towel and a change of clothes (you can leave this in your car).
-
Bring something to store your wallet and keys in and keep them dry (e.g. drybag). Some keys are chipped and will get ruined if wet. Two ziplock bags will often do the trick. A car hide‐a‐key box is helpful.
-
Sunscreen. Also, if you wear sunglasses, bring straps so they don’t fall off your head.
-
Shoes that can get wet. Wetshoes are best. We carry the NRS kicker shoe in popular sizes and students get a discount. Check with us to see if we have your size in stock. No flip flops! .
Food/Water
-
Water. Most people bring a liter.
-
Food. For 101 and 102 lessons just bring a snack (e.g. granola bar). For the whitewater workshop, day trips and river runs, bring a lunch. Make sure it’s in a drybag or ziploc bag so it doesn’t get wet!
Boats/Gear
-
For Kayaking 101, day trips, whitewater, and rolling lessons, you can bring your own boat, paddle and gear or use ours for free.
-
For Kayaking 102, bring your own boat, paddle and gear. Gear includes: a life jacket, spray skirt, whistle, bilge pump, paddle float, and sponge. Check with us if you need something. We carry a lot of high-quality, lightly-used gear for sale.
-
Kayak nose clips are required for whitewater and rolling (we sell these for $10 at the venue if you need them).
